Summer
As the heat of summer draws near,
A worry creeps into my ear,
Will I be able to withstand,
The sun's scorching, blazing hand?
Will I find respite from the heat,
Or be trapped in a never-ending seat,
Of sweat and discomfort and pain,
Oh, how I dread this summer's reign.
But then I remember, with a smile,
The joys of summer, so worth the while,
The lazy days and starry nights,
And memories made, oh what delights.
So I push my worries aside,
And embrace the summer with open wide,
For though it may bring some strife,
The joys of summer make it all worthwhile.
